This year, for all literature lovers, we’re excited to announce that the Toronto International Festival of Authors is coming back with a new 5-day format from October 28 to November 2, 2025. Previously known as Flagship Fall Festival, this event will gather authors from more than 10 countries such as Japan, France, Portugal and the USA. Together, they will have over 100 events, from conversations and readings to professional masterclasses.

Some of the names that will appear include Margaret Atwood, Kiran Desai, André Aciman, Kōtarō Isaka, and more.
Besides the main program, numerous sub-programs will take place within the festival. Our attention was caught by the “Festival of Indigenous Stories,” which will have 6 events that cover the meaning of ancestry and generational wisdom in literature.
The main events will be hosted at Victoria University at the University of Toronto, but there are additional locations including Koerner Hall at The Royal Conservatory of Music, which will host the festival’s opening.
In addition to this festival, which will focus on all kinds of literature, TIFA is planning more genre-focused events later in the year. Right now, this includes the new mini-Festival celebrating romance fiction on November 21-23, 2025, and the 4th annual edition of its popular MOTIVE Crime & Mystery Festival on June 27-29, 2025.
